The 2011 film "Contagion," about a deadly virus pandemic, is increasing in popularity due to the coronavirus.

Although the film was released in 2011, it has risen to popularity this year. The storyline revolves around how the death of Beth Emhoff and her son leads to the discovery of a deadly virus outbreak which could cost the lives of millions.
Due to the storyline’s similarity with current events, “Contagion” was the seventh most popular movie on iTunes on Friday, the 6th of March, 2020.
28 Weeks Later, a 2007 release Horror/Sci-Fi film also fits well with the current situation.
28 Weeks Later revolves around a rage virus that was inflicted on the population of Great Britain and unexpectedly turned it’s victims into zombies.
It depicts how the US army, after 6 months of the virus’s spread, helps by regaining security in a small area of London. Things are shown to be getting better, until another outbreak.

The team behind the research of the Corona Virus strains confirmed that the “L” strain of the virus is more aggressive and could have a deadlier impact on the population.

The blockbuster zombie film series based on the breach of a virus in the Umbrella Corporation which causes it’s victims to turn into zombies stands hand in hand with current speculations of the Corona Virus’s root cause.
From the first part of the film, each sequel only shows how the virus caused a pandemic and effected most living creatures, and turning them into zombie-versions of their species. Each sequel’s storyline progresses by depicting the intensity of the virus’s outbreak and how it has wiped off majority of the world’s population. However, there is constant emphasis on the Umbrella Corporation - which the lab research center where the virus outbreak took place.
An article covered by the New York Post, titled “Don’t buy China’s story: The coronavirus may have leaked from a lab” also mentioned that Chinese leader Xi Jinping, after the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, stated that they need to contain the coronavirus and need to prevent such outbreaks in the future. To this, he later added that a national system to control bio-security risks must be put in place as “lab safety” is a general safety issue.
In the 2007 film, "I am Legend", Robert Neville; played by Will Smith is a scientist and the last human survivor of the plague that hit New York.
He is depicted to be immune to the virus that caused the collapse of an entire city and probably the world. The film portrays the life of a sole survivor as he hunts for food and basics during the day, and sends out desperate radio messages in hopes for another survivor.
The situation in most cities that have been struck by the corona virus is a mirror image of the film. The entire city of Wuhan had been locked down and each family was allowed to send a single family member to bring back groceries weekly.
As Will Smith manages to reverse the effects of the virus, the world stands in solidarity with the victims of the coronavirus and scientists worldwide have been working to find a cure of the infection that has claimed the lives of 3,522 people. (worldometers.info)
